Ishwor Barmashakha, 20, is from Likhu, one of the rural municipalities in the Ramechhap district of eastern Nepal. Recently, he completed his 10th grade and is waiting for the results. He is from the Dalit community of Nepal. He wants to continue his further/higher education and support his family. Ishwor’s family relies on agriculture, but the income is hardly enough for four family members to survive.
The Covid pandemic took the life of the only bread earner of the family. Ishwor’s family left in great dismay. Being the eldest child of the family, he now has the full responsibility of supporting his father, and it is very difficult for him to continue his education. Moreover, his current situation will not support continuing his studies now. The Bharosa scholarship can generate the opportunity to continue his further education.
