Sangam Saplangi, 17, is from Jaimini-9 one of the Municipalities in the Baglung District of western Nepal. Recently, he completed his 10th grade and is waiting for the results. Sangam is an outstanding student in his class. Sangam is from the Dalit community, a community where people are deprived of all fundamental human rights and considered untouchable. Sangam’s family relies on agriculture, but the income is hardly enough for her family to survive. Khushi’s father used to address all household needs. Despite of the discriminatory behaviour of society and families living beyond the poverty line, Sangam, however, managed to continue her studies.
Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic took the life of her father. Khushi’s family is going through an extreme financial crisis. Being the eldest child of the family, he now has the full responsibility of supporting his mother and sister, and it is very difficult for him to continue his education. Possibly, he might have to discontinue his studies now. The Bharosa scholarship can provide him with the opportunity to continue his further education.
