Shanti Bishwokarma, 18, from Likhu, one of the rural municipalities in the Ramechhap district of eastern Nepal. She is studying in grade 12. Although She is from a Dalit community, a socially excluded community, she wants to study, and through the light of education, she wants to end the vicious cycle of discrimination in her community. There are seven members in her family. The major source of income for her family is agriculture. With an annual income of less than one lakh, Shanti’s father used to manage the whole household. After the death of her father from the COVID-19 pandemic, she finds it extremely difficult to continue her studies. Her dream to end the discrimination in her community would be shattered. The Bharosa scholarship could lead her to fulfil her dream of equality.
