Khushi Saplangi, 15, is from Jaimini-9, one of the Municipalities in the Baglung District of western Nepal. Recently, she completed her 10th grade and is waiting for the results. Khusi is from the Dalit community, a community where people are deprived of all fundamental human rights and considered as untouchable. Khushi’s family relies on agriculture, but the income is hardly enough for her family to survive. Khushi’s father used to address all household needs. Despite of the discriminatory behaviour of the society and family living beyond the poverty line, Khushi, however, managed to continue her studies.
Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic took the life of her father. Khushi’s family is going through an extreme financial crisis. Khushi’s only hope for her further higher studies ended after her father’s death. She might have to discontinue her studies now. The Bharosa scholarship can bring her hope back with support to continue her further education.
